A: ADS stands for Adaptive Damping System. It is a sub-system of AIRMATIC that uses an electromagnetic solenoid valve inside the shock absorber to continuously adjust damping stiffness in milliseconds. If your vehicle has ADS and you install a strut without it, the suspension ECU will generate fault codes and the ride quality will be severely compromised. This assembly includes the ADS valve for full system compatibility.
Q: Does this fit the 4Matic (AWD) version of the W212?
A: No. The 4Matic front suspension uses a different strut geometry to accommodate the front driveshaft. This part (A2123200913 / A2123200813) is strictly for RWD (2WD) models.
